The bios below were written by a dear friend and member of our inner circle who wished to remain anonymous.
We think she captured the spirit of the Freaks quite well, and thank her for her efforts!
Dave is the guitarist with Gypzy Freaks—and let me tell you, this guy shreds like there’s no tomorrow. I only heard Dave play for the first time on a cold December night, and honestly, I was a little skeptical. But HOLY SHIT! The man can rip that guitar like it’s an extension of his soul.
He’s been rocking out since he was 5 years old (yes, FIVE), and has an impressive resume including:
- Playing Jacek in *Hedwig and the Angry Inch* Boston cast 1999
- Sunset Strippers
- Demons Alley
- THE RAW
- Red Hot (Motley Crue covers)
- Draw the Line (Aerosmith covers)
- Temptress
…and he’s even toured nationally with various bands!
If you’ve ever seen him play in another band, you’ve already been wowed—so why not come out and see him do his thing once again? I guarantee you’ll leave saying, “Wow, I’ve definitely seen this guy before…and I’ll be back to see him again!”
Rusty kicked his musical journey off in Philadelphia playing with multiple bands. Thankfully he made that move to Boston, because that’s where he got his start with Moonshine, and now he’s the powerhouse behind the drums for three incredible bands Bad At Math, Fighting Friday, and of course, Gypzy Freaks. He’s also the go-to fill-in for multiple bands across the music scene, talk about a busy beat-maker!
And let me tell you, Rusty plays those drums like a squirrel on a caffeine rush nonstop, unpredictable, full of energy, and just a little bit chaotic. He’s passionate, intense, all while trying not to break a stick or tear apart his snare! If you’ve seen him in action before, you already know what’s coming.
But if you haven’t, Freakshows are your chance to witness Rusty bringing the thunder with Gypzy Freaks. Spoiler: You won’t be disappointed. So come have a drink, enjoy some killer beats, and see Rusty in full swing—you’re guaranteed a good time!
We’re shining the spotlight on the man who is the vibe. The socialite. The bass-slinging legend. The guy who somehow knows everyone at every gig within a 100-mile radius—Yes, J, we’re talking about you.
J, this is your day. And let’s be honest who doesn’t know J? The guy’s basically the Mayor of Music Town. If there were a city council for coolness, he’d be president, treasurer, and head of hospitality—all rolled into one.
He kicked off his musical journey tickling piano keys at age 8. But by 12, he picked up a bass, heard it growl, and said, “Yep—this is home now.” And just like that, he transformed into the Bass God we all know today— like Thor discovering his hammer. Pure destiny.
J’s rock résumé reads like a backstage pass to greatness:
-Ript
-Overdrive
-200 proof,
-Iron Tiger
-and currently laying down the thunder with Ignition
—and of course, bringing the unstoppable rumble to the one and only Gypzy Freaks.
But J doesn’t just play bass—he wrangles it. Like those strings owe him rent, back pay, and a formal apology. And when he's not making the bass talk? He’s dropping backup vocals like it's just another Tuesday. The man is a musical Swiss Army knife.
So here’s to J — groove commander, string whisperer, and the guy whose bass lines don’t just slap… they file HR complaints and schedule follow-up meetings.
And if, by some weird coincidence, you’ve been living under a rock or stuck on a deserted island—fear not!
Redemption is near:
Catch J on stage with the Freaks.
Come raise a drink to J—or better yet, buy him one. Bring your ears. Bring your dancing shoes. And maybe… just maybe… a helmet. Because those bass lines, they hit hard. And you’re gonna want to move.
I’ll be talking about the man… the myth… the walking vocal earthquake… Russ Childz! And if you don’t know Russ? Then you’ve definitely been living under a rock—without Wi-Fi, electricity, or access to live music for many decades.
Russ has been the frontman for more bands than I have room to list: but to name a few that I do have room for:
-Tin Pan Alley,
-Brother Revolution,
-Slewfoot,
-200 Proof,
-Iron Tiger and now,
-he’s the vocal powerhouse leading the charge with Gypzy Freaks.
Russ doesn’t just sing—he summons thunder. His voice? Picture a stadium. 50,000 fans. Pyro exploding in the background. Hair flowing with every motion. That’s the voice Russ was born with. But instead of chasing superstardom and private jets, Russ looked around and said, "Nah, I’m gonna bless the local scene and melt some hearts right here." And melt he does. That voice could shake mountains, tame wild animals, and turn a cold beer hot.
He’s part rockstar, part superhero, and part vocal flamethrower.
So here’s to Russ Childz—the frontman with stadium pipes and a garage-band soul.
The man who turns every show into a declamation of sound and every mic into a weapon of mass awesomeness.
Catch Russ on stage with Gypzy Freaks.
Russ is about to blow you away with his incredible voice — you won't believe the power and soul he brings to the stage. Trust me, you’ll want to hear this live!
Come ready to be amazed!
and maybe…bring a towel because it’s gonna get sweaty, loud, and legendary.
